Musical Beginnings
"Music Education from the Start"
About the Instructors
Monica Moore graduated from USM with her Bachelor in Music Education in 2009 and has spent 14 years teaching in public music education program and private studio settings. Recently, she earned her Masters Degree in Music Education and has set out to provide top quality music education in a flexible and authentic musical environment. She believes that by having students engage musically in community they can grow to be independent musical thinkers, makers, and creators.
It is not about what children can do with music, but rather what music can do for each child.
Kiersten Christy began her musical life singing in musical theater productions ranging in style from West Side Story, to Legally Blonde, and at USM’s School of Music she fell in love with classical singing and vocal pedagogy. She won the Bay Chamber Jean and Harvey Picker Senior Prize, and was the 2018 recipient of The Nordica Award. She has also played the piano for almost 20 years, began teaching at age 16, and continues to enjoy helping musicians of all levels to find their paths to lifelong music making!
